The world can be a place of joy, but it can also be a place of pain, especially for a teenage girl. Navigating yourself through God’s plan for you can be difficult. The following is Scripture that invites you to learn how to find your purpose in God’s plan. We all were created for a purpose, just sometimes it takes a while to discover. It is okay to feel like you don’t matter, but after acknowledging those feelings, it is important that you find all the ways to show and tell yourself that you truly do matter because YOU DO! This is a great place to guide that mindset to a place of purpose.
GOD CREATED YOU PERFECT IN EVERY WAY
Have you ever felt not important enough? What made you feel that way?
The world and some people in that world, will always look for flaws in people, sometimes they will even try to convince others of their imperfections. Even our own mindset can betray our sense of self-worth. But God created you PERFECT, in every way. He sees no flaws, just endless beauty.
Scripture: “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praised You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful; I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:13-14
Challenge: Write down 10 things about yourself that you love. Thank God for each one of them. Ask Him to help change your mind set about the things you don’t like about yourself.
IN THE MIDST OF YOUR SADNESS, GOD IS STILL RIGHT THERE
Have you ever been so sad that you feel like you are alone? Like you are suffering and nobody around you understand or cares?
God feels sorrow and empathy also. He is there to heal the broken hearted. Cry out to Him, tell Him what you are going through and ask Him for His guidance.
Scripture: “As He approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out- the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “don’t cry”. – Luke 7:12-13
Challenge: When you feel sad, write it down. Put it all on paper. Then, write a prayer for each thing listed on your paper, see what God will do for you.
God is right there waiting for your requests and questions
Who is the first person you go to when you need help or have a question about life? Is it God or someone else?
Whenever you reach out to God, He is right there waiting for your requests and questions. Although He already knows everything you are going to ask and even the answer to those prayers and questions, before we even ask Him. But He wants you to acknowledge that He is there and wants you to approach Him and ask Him things, instead of Him just doing everything for you. This gives us independence and shows God that we look up to Him.
Scripture: “I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.” – Psalm 34:4
Challenge: Before going to someone else, try praying on it and asking God first. In your prayer journal, write down the questions in one color, and when He answers it, write the answer in a separate color. Remember God won’t answer it like those around us will answer questions, He doesn’t just verbally tell us, but He shows us the answers in our journey in life through actions and people. You may not see answers for days, weeks of even years.
Do not let temptation lead you down the path of destruction
What are some things that tempt you on a daily basis? Have you ever wanted something so bad that you would give anything in your life to have it? What was it? Do you still feel that way today?
We are tempted daily on common things, sweets, food, coffee, caffeine, and even things not very good for us (smoking). But God will never let us become so tempted that we cannot escape. He will always provide the way out, we just have to pray and ask Him to show us where to go to get away from the temptation. Things might look greener on the other side, but I promise you this, once you give in and fulfill that craving, you will find that it wasn’t actually as amazing as you thought it was going to be. The things of this world only produce short term happiness and pleasure but always leave us wanting more, but spiritual things we crave will fulfill us forever.
Scripture: “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:12-13
