SEVEN DAYS OF SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER FOR YOUR DAUGHTER
Scripture and Prayer
Sending scripture and prayer to my daughter every day is my way of constantly reminding her of God’s promises. My dad always had a way of relating everything we were going through or the topic of discussion back to God’s word and scripture. To this day, now that I am older, my dad still continues to send my sisters and me scripture daily. I firmly believe it was the constant topic of God and his encouragement to go to church that led me to my faith and my desire to go to church weekly. This is my motivation behind my daily prayer over my daughter and my daily reminder to her of God’s promises and commands.
If you want to do the same thing and bring your daughter closer to God, here are seven days of inspiring scripture that are designed to uplift the spirit. I have included prayer points but feel free to add or eliminate whatever your heart is telling you. Make your prayers more personal to your daughter and the challenges or life experiences she is walking through at that time.
Day 1: Although life can become stressful and overwhelming, God will take all the anxiety and fear away from you when you ask Him. He is there to help guide you and make your life easier. Be encouraged that you are not in this alone.
Scripture: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” -Philippians 4:6
Prayer Points:
- That she hold Christ close to her heart forever
- She learns to give all her fear and anxiety to the Lord
- Never forgetting to stay humble and give thanks daily to God
Day 2: God isn’t done with you yet! Every day our journey leaves imprints in our mind, heart and soul that we will reflect on again in the future. Take each day, whether good or bad, and remember that there is a bigger plan for you ahead.
Scripture: “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ.” – Philippians 1:6
Prayer Points:
- My daughter relies on God with every good and bad thing she encounters in her life
- She is understanding and appreciative that God is there for her everyday
- She is able to understand that failure or hard times does not mean that she is in this world alone, and that she can recognize that these experiences are just part of our story
Day 3: You are made perfect in love. God knew exactly how he wanted to create you, the perfect and most beautiful, unique young lady.
Scripture: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” – 1 John 4:18
Prayer Points:
- Replace my daughters fear with Your Love Lord
- Help her learn to turn to You when she is fearful of something and rely on Your promises and truth
Day 4: You were chosen to do something great. We may not know what it is yet but every day moves us closer to that mission. Pray that God gives you direction and helps open your eyes to those things around you that you need to be aware of.
Scripture: “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in My Name the Father will give you.” – John 15:16
Prayer Points:
:
- My daughter to know she was chosen for a purpose, even if she doesn’t see it yet
- She never quits anything
- Whatever she does, she bears fruit and plants seeds
Day 5: It is so important that we reach out and seek guidance and wisdom from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit not only guides but it protects and teaches us things that will be useful for the trajectory of our lives.
Scripture: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
Prayer Points:
- Thank God for giving us the gift of love
- That she is able to find love for everyone, even those who hurt her feelings or do wrong by her
- That she is forgiving
- She uses God’s love to gain power and self-discipline
Day 6: Hard work does not go unnoticed. As you get older it is easy to compare ourselves to others when they are more pretty than us, richer than us, have what looks like an easier life than us or those who have better luck. But there are lessons taught along the way of hard work. The harder the work, the more fruit you bear.
Scripture: “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” – Proverbs 31:30-31
Prayer Points:
- That she learns that beauty and capturing the eyes of those around her don’t speak to the measures of the love and admiration God has for her.
- That my daughter understands that actions speak louder than words and looks
- She learns hard work
- That her hard work will bring good fruit to her future and the generations after her
Day 7: Trust in God in all aspects of your life. I know it is hard as you are getting older, you have friends who do believe in God and then you have a handful that were never introduced to Him and don’t believe, some of them may even mock you. But never let their lack of knowledge get in the way of you obeying Christ’s commands and being a disciple of Him.
Scripture: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
Prayer Points:
- That my daughter always remembers that God is right there. Regardless of her worldly actions or her sin, He is right there.
- Relies on God for strength
- Is able to help her friends and those around her find God for their strength and help
